Please find below a brief synopsis on the topics that will be addressed at the luncheon with the Vail Town Council on May 3,
2011:
1.U.S. Pro Cycling Challenge (Slide Attachment from VVF)

When: August 25 & 26
Where: event will occur in both Vail & Avon
Status: Very active planning of the event is taking place. I’ve attached a powerpoint presentation provided to us by the
Vail Valley Foundation’s Adam Lueck with some information about the event.
2.Rushworks A/V Equipment, Town of Vail, Town of Avon, Channel 5
Staff: Avon staff: Scott Wright; Vail staff: Ron Braden and Matt Mire, Town Attorney; Channel 5 staff: JK
Vail is drafting an IGA between the three agencies for the purchase, operation and maintenance of Rushworks Audio /
Video Equipment. Avon has $20K included in 2011 budget for this upgrade. The IGA should be completed in the next
month or so and will be considered at a council meeting in the near future.
3.Economic Development
Staff: Avon staff: Larry Brooks
Status: Larry will provide a summary on this topic as possibly related to special events and regional transportation.
4.Potential Affordable Housing Efforts
Staff: Avon staff: Larry Brooks
Status: Larry will provide some ideas on possible strategies to improving affordable housing scenarios which may be better
served if there were a multi-jurisdictional approach.
5.Regional / Three Mile Land Use Planning Update
Staff: Larry Brooks, Sally Vecchio, Com Dev
Summary: The Avon P&Z Commission and the Avon Town Council will see some comprehensive plan updates in the near
future that addresses the regional planning topic.
6.Regional Water Quality Programs Update (Jenny’s Attachment)
Staff: Jenny Strehler, Community Development & Engineering
Summary: I’ve attached a summary of the stormwater topic that was submitted by Jenny after the joint meeting with Eagle
County. She has provided a summary of the following groups: a) Urban Runoff Group, b) County Water She Management
Plan, and c) USGS Monitoring Study.
Again, Larry will be able to speak to this topic.
7.I-70 Transportation
Staff: Larry Brooks, Town Manager
Larry will be able to speak to this topic in great detail.
8.2015 Championships (possibly a topic for future luncheon)
Staff: Larry Brooks, serving on the organizing committee; will be able to provide a summary on the topic.
9.ECO Transit (Jenny’s Attachment)
I know this topic is not on their agenda list, but you spoke about it as something you & Dick might want to bring up. Larry is
the expert on the topic, and I’ve attached a good summary sheet from Jenny that outlines some of what is going on with
the County.
