A RESOLUTION APPROVING REVISED TOWN. OF AVON RESIDENTIAL,
COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL DESIGN REVIEW GUIDELINES -
PROCEDURES, RULES AND REGULATIONS, AS ORIGINALLY ADOPTED
NOVEMBER 6, 2001
WHEREAS,--Title 2 of the Avon Municipal Code establishes the Planning and Zoning
Commission as the design review body for the Town of Avon; and
WHEREAS,. the Planning and Zoning Commission approved the Town of Avon Residential,
Commercial and Industrial Design Review Guidelines - Procedures, Rules and Re ations on
November, 6, 2001, and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission held-public hearings on August 7, 2007 and
August 21, 2007 with regard to revisions to the duplex and multi-family. development language;"
and subsequently recommended approval of the proposed revisions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO that the Town Council hereby approves the revisions to the
design guidelines; attached hereto as Exhibit "A", and incorporated by this reference, in order to
amend the existing Town of Avon Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Design Review
Guidelines - Procedures, Rules and Regulations as originally adopted November 6, 2001, and
setting forth details in regard thereto.

Resolution 07-34, Proposed revisions to the Town of Avon Residential,
Commercial and Industrial Design Review Guidelines
Summary:
Attached to this memo is Resolution 07-34 that proposes revisions to the Town of
Avon Residential, Commercial and Industrial Design Review Guidelines. The
Resolution shows existing guidelines, and where applicable, a strikethrough followed
by the proposed revision.
The changes presented in the resolution are the result of several meetings with the
Town Community Development Subcommittee. and the Planning and Zoning
Commission. At your April 24, 2007 meeting, following review of a questionable
duplex design, Staff was directed to review the "Duplex Development" guidelines and
update them if deemed necessary.
Resolution 07-34 proposes to amend the Town of Avon Residential, Commercial and
Industrial Design Review Guidelines with respect to Duplex and Multi-Family Housing
Guidelines.
After the Subcommittee met, the Planning Commission held two public hearings on
the revisions at their August 7, 2007 and August 21, 2007 meetings. Staff and the
Town Attorney will be available at your meeting to answer any questions that you may
have on the proposed amendments.
Recommendation:
After holding a public hearing, Staff recommends approval of Resolution 07-34.

Duplex and Multi-Family developments must be designed in a manner that creates an a

forms, and landscaping. While `mirror image' duplexes structures are not supported, the
design intent should be one that creates a unified structure with enough variety and
architectural interest to distinguish a duplex or multi-family structure from a single
family home.
