TC Res. No. 1992-16TOWN OF AVON
RESOLUTION NO. 92 - 16
SERIES OF 1992
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO
SUPPORTING THE LOCATION OF THE NORTHERN COLORADO WELCOME CENTER IN
WELLINGTON, COLORADO
WHEREAS, tourism is a major industry for many small towns in
the state of Colorado, and
WHEREAS, it is important to give tourist and other users the
best location and timing to make an informed decision as to where
they are headed and the best possible route to proceed to get to
the location in Colorado they are seeking, and
WHEREAS the location of a tourist information center at each
major entrance to the state is a matter of state policy, vital to
the tourist industry, and
WHEREAS, the site for the Northern Colorado Welcome Center is
presently being considered by the Colorado State Board of Tourism:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF AVON, COLORADO, as follows:
The site for the Northern Colorado Welcome Center proposed by
the Town of Wellington is preferred because it is the northern
most site being considered by the Board of Tourism, and as such,
offers the opportunity for the small towns of northern Colorado to
attract and utilize the potential tourists and traffic coming into
Colorado; and
Because of its location, the site for the Northern Colorado
Welcome Center proposed by the Town of Wellington will help to
prevent any confusion, backtracking and inconvenience which may
occur if the center is located further to the south, past several
major highways leading to tourist attractions such as the Poudre
Canyon, the Red Feather Lakes area, the Pawnee Grasslands, "Old
Town" Fort Collins and many more; and
Furthermore, be it resolved that we, the Town Council of the
Town of Avon, urge the Colorado Tourist Board to consider the
various proposals in an open meeting and to select the site
proposed by the Town of Wellington for the Northern Colorado
Welcome Center.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON THIS 12th DAY OF May , 1992, BY
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF AVON AND ORDERE TO BECOME
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AFTER PASSAGE.
