No. 1992-16TOWN OF AVON RESOLUTION NO. 92 - 16 SERIES OF 1992 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO SUPPORTING THE LOCATION OF THE NORTHERN COLORADO WELCOME CENTER IN WELLINGTON, COLORADO WHEREAS, tourism is a major industry for many small towns in the state of Colorado, and WHEREAS, it is important to give tourist and other users the best location and timing to make an informed decision as to where they are headed and the best possible route to proceed to get to the location in Colorado they are seeking, and WHEREAS the location of a tourist information center at each major entrance to the state is a matter of state policy, vital to the tourist industry, and WHEREAS, the site for the Northern Colorado Welcome Center is presently being considered by the Colorado State Board of Tourism: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO, as follows: The site for the Northern Colorado Welcome Center proposed by the Town of Wellington is preferred because it is the northern most site being considered by the Board of Tourism, and as such, offers the opportunity for the small towns of northern Colorado to attract and utilize the potential tourists and traffic coming into Colorado; and Because of its location, the site for the Northern Colorado Welcome Center proposed by the Town of Wellington will help to prevent any confusion, backtracking and inconvenience which may occur if the center is located further to the south, past several major highways leading to tourist attractions such as the Poudre Canyon, the Red Feather Lakes area, the Pawnee Grasslands, "Old Town" Fort Collins and many more; and Furthermore, be it resolved that we, the Town Council of the Town of Avon, urge the Colorado Tourist Board to consider the various proposals in an open meeting and to select the site proposed by the Town of Wellington for the Northern Colorado Welcome Center.
