RESOLUTION NO. 90-10
IN SUPPORT OF THE EAGLE COUNTY MILL LEVY ELECTION FOR
RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
WHEREAS, there is a demand throughout the county for
an increase in the availability of recreation facilities and
affordable housing; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Task Force has recommended
that the County purchase land and construct certain recreation
facilities in the Edwards area; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Task Force has recommended
that the County construct certain recreation facilities in the
Eagle area and the Basalt/El Jebel area; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners believes
that the priorities for the types of recreation facilities
can best be determined by the interested citizens and local
governments to be served by the facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Task Force has recommended
that up to ten acres of land at the Edwards site be dedicated
for affordable housing, said housing to be constructed by private
developers or a public agency with the purpose of,the development
of affordable housing; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has
determined that an election to annually levy additional taxes
in the amount of $1,800,000 will be necessary to finance the
purchase and operation of such facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF AVON:
THAT, the Town of Avon express support for the April 10,
1990 election to levy additional taxes.
THAT, the Town of Avon urge the citizens of Eagle County
to vote "yes" on the ballot question.
