No. 1987-23RESOLUTION NO. 87-23 SERIES OF 1987 A RESOLUTION TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE EAGLE-VAIL METROPOLITAN FIRE DISTRICT MONEY PURCHASE PENSION PLAN WHEREAS, the Town of Avon ("employer"), has contracted with six (6) Metropolitan Districts to provide fire services for those districts; and WHEREAS, the Town of Avon has employed, as Public Safety Officers, a number of employees who were previously employed by the Eagle-Vail Metropolitan District, as firefighters; and WHEREAS, the Town of Avon, by contract, has agreed to provide pension benefits, rights, and obligations for these new Town of Avon employees, that are the same pension benefits, rights, and obligations that these employees were provided by Eagle-Vail Metropolitan District; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to reflect the change in employer in the title of the Pension Plan that these employees are under. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Avon, Colorado, that the Town of Avon changes the name of the Eagle-Vail Metropolitan Fire District Money Purchase Pension Plan, to the Town of Avon Department of Public Safety (firefighters-l0=1-87)'Mdney-Purchase Pension Plan. Notting m, Mayor TO William James, Avon Town Manager FROM Joe Olson, Assistant Avon Town Manager RE Resolutions 87-23 and 87-21 DATE September 16, 1987 The attached Resolutions accomplish two (2) things: Resolution 87-23 - With the six (6) Metropolitan District's contracting with the Town to provide fire protection services, and the hiring of new employees as Public Safety Officers for the purpose of firefighting, it is necessary and required by state law, to reflect the change in status for these employees. The area that is most significant in this change of employers is the Pension area. State law requires that the new employer (Town of Avon), provide a Pension Plan that has the same rights and obligations as the Pension Plan provided by the old employer (Eagle-Vail , Metropolitan District). This requirement was provided for in the contract that Council approved on September 8, 1987. The one other item that has to be taken care of regarding the Pension Plan, is changing the name. Resolution°87-23 will change the name of the Pension Plan, that the current Eagle-Vail Firefighters who, effective October .1, 1987, will be Town of Avon employees, are under,'from the Eagle-Vail Metropolitan Firefighter MoneyPurchase Pension Plan, to,,,the Town of Avon Public Safety (Firefighters) Money Purchase Pension Plan. Resolution 87-21 - As a result of establishing the Department of Public Safety, it is.necessary, to change the name of the Town'of Avon Police Department Money Purchase Pension Plan, to the Town of Avon Department of Public Safety Department Money Purchase Pension Plan. In summary, we are changing the names of both the Fire and Police Money Purchase Pension Plans, to coincide with the establishment of a Department of Public Safety.
