RESOLUTION NO.'#84^26
SERIES OF 1984
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING HOME MAIL DELIVERY WITHIN
THE TOWN OF AVON AND SURROUNDING AREA
WHEREAS, access to the current post office facilities
is congested and parking is deemed to be inadequate for present
use of the facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the time frame for construction of a new and
independent postal facility located and designed to handle the
high traffic volume generated by such facility is excessive; and,
WHEREAS, the problem of traffic congestion and shortage
of parking facilities are expected to increase with the
anticipated population and commerical growth in the area; and,
WHEREAS, the initiation of Home Delivery or Neighborhood
Delivery and Collection Box Unit System is expected to substantially
reduce traffic congestion and parking requirements at the postal
facility,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council hereby
supports the initiation of a Home Delivery or Neighborhood
Delivery and Collection Box Unit System within the Town of Avon
and surrounding area; and,
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council
hereby supports the initiation of procedures required to construct
a new and independent postal facility located and designed to handle
the current and projected high traffic volume generated by such
facility.
