RESOLUTION APPROVING VARIANCE REQUEST FOR WILDWOOD ROAD WEST, BLOCK 5,
WILDRIDGE, ROADWAY WIDTHS.
WHEREAS, Wildridge Development Company has submitted an
Application for Variance, Town of Avon Subdivision Regulations for a
variance in roadway widths as required by Section 16.40.070 of the Avon
Municipal Code, and
WHEREAS, said Variance Request has been made upon the
recommendation of the Town Engineer in an attempt to prevent shoulder
deterioration which has occurred on previous roadways constructed to
Town Standards, and
WHEREAS, the proposed design for the Variance Request has
been reviewed by the Town Engineer and found to be generally in accord
with his recommendations and is recommended for approval as a test
section of roadway.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the
Town of Avon that this Variance Request for increasing the minimum
driving lane width from 11 feet to 13 feet and reducing the minimum
shoulder width from 4 feet to 2 feet and the request for waiver of fee
of $50.00 is hereby approved. It is further recognized that the
Subdivider has requested this variance at the request of the Town,
therefore the Subdivider shall not be responsible for any failure due
to differences in cross-section that may be inherent in the cross-
section approved by this resolution.

SUBJECT: Variance Request - Roadway Widths, Wildwood Road West,
Block 5, Wildridge
This is to certify that staff has reviewed the variance request for
increasing the driving lane width from the required 11 foot minimum to
13 feet and reducing the shoulder width from the minimum width of 4
feet as required to 2 feet. This change has been made at the request
of Town staff in an attempt to alleviate the problem of cracking along
the edges of pavement which has occurred extensively along roadways
constructed to Town standards.
The length of roadway for which this variance is requested is
approximately 5,000 feet which we feel will provide an adequate test
section. If this section of roadway should work out as we expect, we
will then recommend this change be incorporated into the Town Design
Standards.
This variance request is a result of a cooperative effort between the
Town Staff and Wildridge Development Company and it is recommended
that Council approve the request for a variance in roadway widths and
waiver of the Application for Variance fee of $50.00
