A RESOLUTION CONCERNING HOUSE BILL 1529
STATE PREEMPTION OF LOCAL WEAPON CONTROLS
WHEREAS the Town Council of the Town of Avon, Colorado
recognizes that the use and possession of firearms and ammunition
is a matter of public safety that must be addressed locally, and
WHEREAS the State Legislature has presently under
consideration H.B. 1529 which would preempt local government from
exercising its powers to protect the public safety•in this regard, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the
Town of Avon, Colorado does hereby urge the members of the Senate
Judiciary Committee and the members of the Colorado State Senate
to defeat H.D. 1529 as it severly limits local government in its
effort to adequately provide for the public safety.
