TC Res. No. 1983-210 4 RESOLUTION NO. #83-21 SERIES OF 1983 A RESOLUTION CONCERNED WITH THE MOTOR FUEL TAX INCREASE AND TRAIN CAR MILE TAX, HOUSE BILL 1206. WHEREAS the Town Council of the Town of Avon, Colorado recognizes the need to construct and maintain an efficient system of streets and highways throughout the State of Colorado as a necessary means of effectuating and sustaining a growing economic climate, and WHEREAS such a system of streets and highways can only be provided if we are willing to fund such a system at an adequate level, and WHEREAS in recent years revenues have significantly fallen behind needs in the area of highway financing,.and WHEREAS H.,D. 1206 is attempting to meet these needs through an increase motor fuel tax and deisel fuel surcharge (supporting the 60-22-18 distribution formula), and a freight car mile tax, and NOW THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town of Avon,-Colorado urges the members of the House Finance Committee and the members of the State Legislature to support H.B. 1206 as this legislation attempts to meet our much neglected highway needs.
