AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE UNIFORM ELECTION CODE
OF 1992 IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN A COORDINATED
ELECTION IN EAGLE COUNTY ON NOVEMBER 8, 1994
WHEREAS, the passage of Amendment 1 in 1992 and other
legislation mean that several governmental jurisdictions in
Eagle County will hold simultaneous elections on November 8,
1994; and
WHEREAS, H.B. 93-1255, adopted by the Colorado
Legislature, amends the Uniform Election Code of 1992 to allow
these jurisdictions to coordinate their election operations; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Avon wishes to participate in a
coordinated election on November 8, 1994; and
WHEREAS, Avon municipal elections are governed by the
Colorado municipal election laws, Chapter 3 of the Town of Avon
Charter, and Title 2, Chapter 2.28 of the Town of Avon Municipal
Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 31-10-102.7 of the Colorado Revised
Statutes permits any municipality to adopt the provisions of the
Uniform Election Code of 1992 with respect to any municipal
election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Town Council of
the Town of Avon, Colorado:
SECTION 1. The Town of Avon hereby adopts the
Uniform Election Code of 1992 as amended in lieu of the Colorado
Municipal Election Code of 1965 and in lieu of Title 2, Chapter
2.28 of the Municipal Code for the purpose of participating in a
coordinated election with Eagle County on November 8, 1994, in
accordance with the provisions of C.R.S. 31-10-102.7.
SECTION 2. The Town Clerk is hereby directed to
work with the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder and to take all
necessary actions to conduct the regular municipal election in
accordance with Article 20 of Title X of the Colorado
Constitution, the Uniform Election Code of 1992, and all other
appropriate statutes.
SECTION 3. It is hereby determined that said
election shall be by polling place.
INTRODUCED, PASSED ON FIRST READING, APPROVED AND
ORDERED POSTED, this 12th day of July 1994 and a public
hearing on this ordinance shall be held at the regular meeting of
the Town Council of the Town of Avon, Colorado on the 26th day
of July , 1994 at 7:30 P.M. in the Municipal Building of
the Town of Avon, Colorado.

A copy of said ordinance is attached hereto, and is also on file
at the office of the Town Clerk, and may be inspected during
regular business hours.
Following this hearing, the Council may consider final passage of
this Ordinance.
