ORDINANCE NO. 87-15
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT CREATING AN EMERGENCY TELEPHONE
SERVICE AUTHORITY IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH
AND OPERATE AN EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SERVICE
SYSTEM IN THE TOWN OF AVON AND IMPOSING A
CHARGE THEREFOR.
WHEREAS, In the interest of protecting and
preserving public safety and welfare, it is desirable that
the citizens of the Town of Avon, Colorado, be provided with
emergency telephone service to aid the timely provision of
emergency service; and
WHEREAS, The Town Council of the Town of Avon,
Colorado finds that the Town of Avon is lawfully authorized
to enter into an agreement with the governing bodies of
other public agencies pursuant to the Town's Charter in
order to establish and maintain the emergency telephone
service system within the Town of Avon;-and
WHEREAS, Such system would be in the best interest
of the Town of Avon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF.AVON, COLORADO:
Section 1'. The Mayor and Town Clerk are
authorized to sign an intergovernmental.agreement creating
an emergency telephone service authority in order to
establish and maintain an emergency telephone.,.service system
in the County of Eagle, Colorado.
Section 2. In order to defray the cost of
emergency telephone service, there-is hereby imposed on
every telephone service user within the Town a charge in the
amount of two percent of the tariff rate as-the same is
deinfed in section 29-11-101 (9), C.R.S., and subject to the
limitations of section 29-11-102, C.R.S. Such charge shall
be collected in accordance with said section and remitted to
the Town in accordance with section 29-11-103, C.R.S.
Section 3. This ordinance shall not be effective
until the intergovernmental agreement creating the emergency
telephone service authority and concerning the
implementation of an emergency telephone service system is
signed by representatives of all parties to the agreement.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN OF A PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE TOWN
COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO, AT 7:30 P.M. ON THE
DAY OF , 1987 AT THE TOWN HALL FOR THE PURPOSE
OF CONSIDERING THE ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 87-15, SERIES OF
1987:
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT CREATING
AN EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SERVICE AUTHORITY IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH
AND OPERATE AN EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SERVICE SYSTEM IN THE TOWN
OF AVON
A copy of said Ordinance is attached hereto, and is also on
file at the office of the Town Clerk, and may be inspected during
regular business hours.
Following this hearing the Council may consider final passage
of this Ordinance.
This notice is given and published by order of the Town Council
of the Town of Avon.
