OF THE TOWN OF AVON
HELD OCTOBER 30, 1979
The special meeting of the Town Councilmembers of the Town of Avon, Colorado
was held in the Town Office, second floor, Benchmark Center, Avon, Colorado.
The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. by Mayor Alpi. A roll call was
taken with all Councilmembers in attendance. Also present were Town Attorney
John Blish, Architects from Denver and Vail as well as members of the press
and public.
The only item on the agenda was the Architects to make their presentations
of their projects for the Municipal Building.
Inter-Group, Inc. approached the Council to make their presentation. Their
process of the project was broken down into four phases, 1) developing the site
and what the needs are, 2) would be the preliminary design, 3) proceed into the
project and producing a set of documents and 4) the actual construction process.
Their building size would be approximately 10,000 to 12,000 square feet and
a rough figure of $70.00 square foot.
Fritz Glade, Architect from Vail approached the Council with his presentation.
Mr. Glade isolocal Vail Architect. His renderings showed a covered parking
area with 18 parking spaces and with Police storage and locker and park
maintenance recreation. The main level would house all the main Town Officals,
the second level has a proposed library of 3,800 square feet and leased office
space and the third level would have leased office space. The overall square
footage of the building would be 28,000 square feet and roughly the building
cost would be 1.5 million.
Mark Donaldson next approached the Council. He presented his project with
slides of the interior and exterior designs as was previously shown at the
September 25th meeting.
Bill Pierce and associate Lewis Bussey approached the Council. They presented
their project with renderings as was previously shown at the September 25th
Council meeting.
All Architects agreed that this Municipal Building would be top priority.
After all the presentations were given the Mayor stated that all the Architects
would be notified by mail of the results.
After a brief intermission the Councimembers went into executive session.
