MINUTES OF THE LOCAL LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY MEETING
HELD NOVEMBER 9, 2004
The Avon Town Council acting as the Local Liquor Licensing Authority for the Town of Avon,
Colorado convened at 5:35 PM at the Avon Municipal Building, 400 Benchmark Road, Avon,
Colorado. A roll call was taken and Board members of the Authority present were Buz
Reynolds, Michael Brown, D. Buckley, P. Buckley, Brian Sipes and Ron Wolfe. Mac McDevitt
was absent.
Application for Renewal of Hotel / Restaurant Liquor License

Street Address: 1060 W. Beaver Creek Blvd.

Mailing Address: 4506 Spruce Way #1, Vail, CO
The Town Clerk indicated that the renewal application materials were in order. Police Chief Jeff
Layman addressed the Liquor Board with regard to the calls for service at this establishment.
Agave Manager Richard Wheelock was present to answer questions of the Liquor Board, as
well as explain some of the issues described in the packet memo, including problems over
serving, bartender's drinking, and lack of TIPs training with staff. Discussion ensued about how
he has taken steps to address these problems, new Spanish speaking doorman, etc. It was
noted that most of the complaints come from neighbors, staff & just police routine patrols. Mr.
Wheelock expressed that he has been cooperating with the police department in hopes of
resolving these issues.
Board member Wolfe moved to approve the renewal of the hotel / restaurant liquor license for
Vail Valley Mexican Foods, LLC d/b/a Agave. Board member D. Buckley seconded the motion
and it passed unanimously by those members present (McDevitt absent).

Board member D. Buckley moved to approve the Consent Agenda; Board member Brown
seconded the motion and it passed unanimously by those members present.
