PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING
MAY 4, 1983
Members Present: Bill Pierce, Tommy Landauer, Bob Zeeb,
Mike Blair, Jerry Davis, Jim Meehan.
Staff Present: Dick Kvach/Planning Director.
Chairman Bill Pierce called the Special Meeting of the
Planning & Zoning Commission to order at 7:30 P. M. on May
4, 1983, in the Council Chambers of the Avon Town Hall. Mr.
Pierce noted that the purpose of this meeting was to interview
8 applicants for the opening on the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Dick Kvach explained that as a Planning & Zoning Commission,
the responsibilities assigned to this body are much broader than
those of the old Design Review Board. As such, in considering
the qualifications of the applicants, the Commission should at-
tempt to develop a balanced Commission representing all phases
of the community; not just the design segment.
Six of the eight applicants appeared for interviews. Al
Alpi and Robert West did not appear.
Following all interviews, the Commission discussed each
candidate. The Commission unanimously recommended that Thomas
Backus be appointed as the seventh Planning & Zoning member.
