RESOLUTION 16 -14
IN SUPPORT OF HB 1336, "CONCERNING THE CREATION OF A
SINGLE GEOGRAPHIC RATING AREA FOR HEALTH INSURERS TO USE WHEN
ESTABLISHING RATES FOR INDIVIDUAL HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS"
WHEREAS, Colorado HB 1336 would direct the Commissioner of Insurance to study the
impacts and viability of creating a single geographic rating area, consisting of the entire state, for
purposes of determining premium rates for individual health benefit plans issued in the state; and
WHEREAS, the purpose and intent of Colorado HB 1336 is to equalize health insurance
premiums for all Coloradoans who rely on individual policies; and
WHEREAS, insurance rates vary as much as 50 %, making health insurance unaffordable for
many in higher cost areas; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. §1- 45- 117(1)(b)(III), the Avon Town Council may pass a
resolution supporting a ballot measure; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Avon Town Council fully supports and
endorses Colorado HB 1336.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Avon Town Clerk is hereby directed to report the
passage of this Resolution 16 -14 and distribute to the public through established, customary
means other than paid advertising.
