A RESOLUTION THANKING POLICE CHIEF JEFF LAYMAN FOR HIS SERVICE TO
THE TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO
Whereas Jeff Layman was the Avon Police Chief for eight years, from November 30, 1998 until
November 20, 2005;
Whereas he was involved in numerous committees and helped to foster better communication among
police agencies;
Whereas his commitment to the community is reflected by his participation in various boards and
activities in the Vail Valley, such the Battle Mountain High School Advisory/Accountability
Committee, youth coach for the Vail Recreation District youth baseball and basketball, Mount of the
Holy Cross Lutheran Church Council, Eagle-Vail Property Owners' Association, Buddy Mentors
Advisory Board and Colorado West Mental Health Local Advisory Committee;
Whereas, while in Avon, he furthered his training by attending and successfully completing a three
month national FBI academy;
Whereas, Chief Layman was an outstanding representative of the town of Avon and always advocated
community policing and he provided valuable input and direction toward the growth of Avon;
Whereas he spent countless hours attending work sessions, regular meetings, committee meetings,
town functions, and special events;

Whereas his commitment to the Town of Avon was unquestionable;
Whereas he selflessly served the public in the position of Police Chief and will always be welcome in
Avon
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF AVON
COLORADO, that Jeff Layman's presence and input will be missed and that the Avon Town Council
and Staff thank him for his time and service in Avon and wish him well in all his future endeavors.
