RESOLUTION NO. 90-1L
SERIES OF 1990
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Avon has
determined that a regional consensus has evolved concerning
the degradation of the Eagle River; and
WHEREAS, there has been no apparent action taken
to mitigate the degradation and determination of the Eagle
River; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council, of the Town of Avon is
concerned with the quality of drinking water, the safety of the
citizens, the beauty and recreational activities of our
community, the economy of the region, and the quality of
water in the Eagle River which is one of the primary
regional resources for rafting, kayaking,. fishing, irrigation,
snowmaking, and water supply; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council has determined it
appropriate and necessary to encourage the adoption of immediate
activities which will quickly remedy and reverse the degradation
of water quality of the Eagle River.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO:
1. That the Town of Avon will no longer accept
degradation of the Eagle River;
2. That the Town of Avon will take steps to become
involved in the carry out remedial efforts to reverse the
degradation of the Eagle River;
3. That the Town of Avon supports the Town of Minturn
in its efforts regarding the Eagle Mine remedial operation;
4. That the Town of Avon encourages the development
of the useful information between citizens and organization
of the region and state and federal authorities and the Gulf-
Western corporation;

5. That the Town of Avon will encourage the
immediate initiation of on-site activities which will quickly
reverse the degradation of the water quality of the Eagle
River;
6. That the Town of Avon will participate in
possible further actions it deems necessary to effect the
clean up of the Eagle River.
