AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE 91-1 AND AMENDING
CHAPTER 6.04 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE TOWN OF AVON,
RELATING TO DOG CONTROL, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR
THE VIOLATION HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF AVON

B. "Control of a dog" means (except when the dog is
actually assisting law enforcement officers and except as
otherwise provided in Section 6.04.070) physical control of a dog
by means of a durable leash, rope or chain no longer than ten
feet in length.
N. "Running at Large" means when a dog enters the
property of another person without authorization of that person
or when it enters public property and is not under the control of
the dog owner or a responsible member of the owner's family or an
employee or agent of the owner either by leash, cable or chain
not more than ten feet in length.
Section 3. Severability. If any part, section,
sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance is for any reason
held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity
of the remaining portions of this Ordinance; and the Town Council
for the Town of Avon hereby declares it would have passed this
ordinance and each part, section, sub-section, sentence, clause
or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more
parts, sections, sub-sections, sentences, clauses or phrases be
dec&-ared invalid.
Section 4. Penalty. It is unlawful for any person to
violate any provision of, or to fail to comply with any of the
requirements of, this Ordinance. Any person who violates any
provisions of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not
more than five hundred dollars or by imprisonment for a period of
not more than ninety days or by both such fine and imprisonment;
provided, no person under the age of eighteen years shall be
punished by imprisonment.
INTRODUCED, PASSED ON FIRST READING, APPROVED AND ORDERED POSTED,
this 23rd day of July, 1991 and a public hearing on this
Ordinance shall be held at the regular meeting of the Town
Council of the Town of Avon, Colorado on the 13th day of August,
1991 at 7:30 P.M. in the Municipal Building of the Town of Avon,
Colorado.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN OF A PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO, AT 7:30 P.M. ON THE 13TH DAY OF
AUGUST, 1991, AT THE TOWN HALL FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING THE
ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 91-14, SERIES OF 1991:
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE 91-1 AND AMENDING CHAPTER 6.04
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE TOWN OF AVON, RELATING TO DOG
CONTROL, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF.
A copy of said Ordinance is attached hereto, and is also on file
at the office of the Town Clerk, and may be inspected during regular
business hours.
Following this hearing the Council may consider final passage
of this Ordinance.
This notice is given and published by order of the Town Council
of the Town of Avon, Colorado.
