1982 Proclamation
Proclamation Whereas, young people in the state of Colorado are seeking to overcome the drug culture; and Whereas, for our young people to be successful in their guest to become drug free, they must be able to depend upon widespread community support; and Whereas, for this community support to become effective, all segments of the community must educate themselves about the harmful effects of drugs, must be resolute in their decision to do what it will take to support young people and their families and must maintain a positive and cooperative attitude; and Whereas, working together, the people of the state of Colorado can make a significant difference and reverse the rising usage of drugs by young people. Now, therefore, let it be known that I do hereby declare th t in j - -t gulp/ ©f- 14UOILI the week of September 26th through October 2nd will be designated: Dated 2Z'�'—D -day of September, 1982 A.D. �I\ Colorado Municipal League /1 7 September 1982 Dear Municipal Official: DRUG FREE YOUTH is an important goal for all_Coloradans. It is also a concept supported by the White House, and the theme of an important statewide con- ference being held in Denver, September 30th - October 2nd. This conference will challenge everyone to take an active part in reducing and preventing drug abuse among our youth. State, county and municipal officials are being asked to help this effort by proclaiming the week of September 26th - October 2nd, 1982 "Drug Free Youth Week" across the state. Governor Lamm and Mayor McNichols have already agreed to sign such a proclamation. The goal of the organizers is to get all counties and municipalities to sign a similar proclamation, which will then be announced and posted at the conference. Your municipality may wish to participate in this laudable effort by proclaim- ing September 26th - October 2nd, Drug Free Youth Week in your municipality. Sincerely yours, Kenneth G.
