HRC Materials -Feb 16 2021970.748.4059 jcurutchet@avon.org TO: Health and Recreation Committee FROM: John Curutchet, Recreation Director RE: January Meeting Outcomes DATE: February 10, 2021 SUMMARY: This report provides an update on discussions from the Health and Recreation Committee meeting, January 2021. The report provides an update on the locker room remodel project and the process and practice of drafting questions for the 2021 Town of Avon Community Survey. Primary outcomes from the January meeting included prioritizing objectives for the following initiatives: • Construct a draft of community survey questions for the Health and Recreation Committee to review, discuss and finalize. STAFF UPDATE: Staff met with the locker room remodel contractor to discuss tile options and final locker selection. The contractor presented upgraded plank tile options to the original 1” square tile proposal. The proposed tile will feature the elevated look of 6” x 24” inch, non-slip plank wood with dark grout. We are also pursuing a phenolic core locker with wood grain, shelving and extra clothing hooks. Phenolic core lockers are more durable than wood core lockers, boasting a 20-year life, (Attachment A). Attachment B of this report includes staff generated draft questions for the 2021 community survey. Please review and offer recommendations on edits, additions or omissions to questions as the upcoming survey will have strong focus on recreation policy questions. Structurally, we anticipate the survey to be limited to 50 questions, (10 -12 recreation related) and to have filters applied for different neighborhoods versus, “user or non-user” questions. A more targeted user rec center user survey will likely be instituted once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and full capacities and amenities are restored. Desired outcome for our February meeting is to generate a final recommended list of questions for the 2021 Town of Avon Community Survey.
