Director of Recreation John Curutchet thanked the Committee for their support for the upcoming locker room remodel
and presented his ideas for the remodel design. He prefers a more neutral, light color palette in order to brighten up
the space; make it inviting and relaxing; as well as not look too busy. The Committee agrees with these choices and
expressed they trusted his judgement.
6. DISCUSSION: HEALTH AND RECREATION COMMITTEE REPORT FROM CHARISE
Director of Recreation John Curutchet asked the Committee if there were any healthy community issues highlighted
in the Health and Recreation Committee report that the Committee would like to focus on as a group. Recreation
Services Superintendent Jamie Taylor is interested in developing a program focused on supporting the mental health
of teens in the community. The Committee expressed that they were interested in supporting the Aging in Place
programming.
7. OTHER BUSINESS
Town Councilor Jake Wolf inquired about doing virtual fitness classes. Recreation Superintendent Jamie Taylor said
that the department was focused on virtual programming when COVID-19 first hit but have been more focused on
reopening recently. He will create more online class options and publish those on Facebook and the website.
Committee member Kathy Ryan asked if she could share a video she sent to Director of Recreation John Curutchet
and Town Manager Eric Heil. She explained the video was of a young boy telling a story about catching a fish that
was caught in a glow bracelet. This story prompted her to want to discuss and deal with lake pollution. The Committee
was unsure if that would be within the scope of the Committee’s purpose. Town Councilor Jake Wolf suggested that
this issue be brought to Public Works Director Gary Padilla but he expressed he may be wrong and will discuss it with
Town Manager Eric Heil to gather his thoughts.
