Roundabouts conceptConcept Design Staff Report Submitted for the August 19, 1997 Planning & Zoning Commission meeting Date December 20, 2019  Project Type Municipal Road Improvement  Location Avon Road from I-70 to SR6  Introduction The Town of Avon is installing five roundabout intersections along Avon Road, including the on/off ramps of I-70, Beaver Creek Blvd., Benchmark Road, and Route 6. Completion of the basic street and utility improvements is expected by the end of October. Streetscape improvements are to follow in 1998. Streetscape includes pedestrian crossings and associated walkways, seating areas, lighting, signs, sculpture and other public art, landscaping, and entry features such as flagpoles Attached for your review and comment is a concept design for the streetscape. The proposed design is the product of a joint effort between the Town Council, public, design consultants, and staff. Design Review Considerations The Commission’s Procedures, Rules & Regulations, Section 6.10, provide the framework for evaluation of this project. Additional guidelines and regulations are contained within (but not limited to) the Comprehensive Plan, the Design Guidelines, the Zoning Ordinance and the Subdivision Regulations. Conformance with the Zoning Code and other applicable regulations of the Town. The suitability of the improvement, including type and quality of materials of which it is to be constructed and the site upon which it is to be located. The compatibility of the design to minimize site impacts to adjacent properties. The compatibility of the proposed improvements with site topography. The visual appearance of any proposed improvement as viewed from adjacent and neighboring properties and public ways. The objective that no improvement is so similar or dissimilar to others in the vicinity that values, monetary or aesthetic will be impaired. The general conformance of the proposed improvements with the adopted Goals, Policies and Programs for the Town of Avon.
