LA Minutes 06-12-2018Avon TOWN OF AVON, COLORADO AVON LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY MEETING MINUTES FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 12, 2018 AVON TOWN HALL, ONE LAKE STREET 1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL Chairwoman Fancher called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. A roll call was taken and Board members present were Sarah Smith Hymes, Scott Prince, Amy Phillips and Megan Burch. Jake Wolf arrived at 5:02. Matt Gennett was absent. Also present were Town Attorney Eric Heil, Police Officer Tyler Churches, Deputy Town Manager Preston Neill and Secretary Debbie Hoppe. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Town Attorney Eric Heil requested item 5.2. Vail Valley Brew Fest Special Event Liquor Permit be removed from the agenda. The item will go before the Liquor Authority June 26, 2018. Mayor Fancher moved to approve the agenda as amended by Town Attorney Eric Heil. Board member Prince seconded the motion and it passed unanimously by Board members present. Board member Gennett was absent. j. PUBLIC COMMENT— COMMENTS ARE WELCOME ON TOPICS NOT ON THE AGENDA No public comments were made. 4. RENEWAL OF LIQUOR LICENSES Start time: 01:50 Part One 4.1. Applicant: Y&Z, Inc. d/b/a Nozawa Sushi & Kitchen Location: 240 Chapel Place, Unit 115 & 116 Type: Hotel and Restaurant Manager: Yong Hu Yuan The application was presented with no concerns. Board member Phillips moved to approve the renewal application for Y&Z, Inc. d/b/a Nozawa Sushi & Kitchen. Board member Burch seconded the motion and it passed unanimously by Board members present. Board member Gennett was absent. 4.2. Applicant: Prost LLC d/b/a Ian Prosit Fine Beer & Sausages Location: 82 E. Beaver Creek Place, Suite M107 Type: Hotel and Restaurant Manager: Scott Pohlman Jeremy Thelen, owner was present to discuss the February 16, 2o18 violation. Board member Burch moved to approve the renewal application for Prost LLC d/b/a Ian Prosit Fine Beer & Sausages. Board member Prince seconded the motion and it passed unanimously by Board members present. Board members Gennett was absent. 5. PUBLIC HEARING SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT Start time: 05:20 Part One 5.1. Katherine Brennand was present to answer any questions. Board member Wolf moved to approve the special event permit applicaton for the Walking Mountains Science Center Taste of Nature Gala on July 10, 2018. Vice Chairwoman Smith Hymes seconded the motion and it passed unanimously by Board members present. Board members Gennett was absent. 5.2. Applicant Name: Walking Mountains Science Center Event Name: Vail Valley Brew Fest at Avon Event Date: July 30, 2018;12:oo pm until 4:00 pm Location: Walking Mountains Science Center Event Manager: Louise Duncan Permit Type: Malt, Vinous & Spirituous Liquor This item was removed from the agenda. 5.3• Applicant Name: Vail Valley Soccer Club Event Name: Lake Street Market Event Dates: June 20 & 27, 2018 and August 8,15 & 22,2018; 4:00 pm until 1o:oo pm Location: One Lake Street Event Manager: Louise Duncan Permit Type: Malt, Vinous & Spirituous Liquor Chairwoman Fancher opened the public hearing and no comments were made. Kerri Thelen and Derek George were present answer any questions. Board member Phillips suggested the alcohol management plan could be more solid and recommended reposting the August event dates. Board member Wolf moved to approve the special event permit applicaton for the Vail Valley Soccer Club Lake Street Market on June 20 & 27, 2o18. Board member Phillips seconded the motion and it passed unanimously by Board members present. Board members Gennett was absent. 6. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM MAY 22, 2018 MEETING Start time: 16:43 Part One Board member Wolf moved to approve the minutes from the May 22, 2018 Liquor Authority meeting. Vice Chairwoman Smith Hymes seconded the motion and it passed with a vote of 5 to o. Board member Phillips abstained from the vote. Board member Gennett was absent. 7. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairwoman Fancher moved to adjourn the liquor meeting. Board member Phillips seconded the motion and it passed unanimously by Board members present. Board member Gennett was absent.
