Introduction
Falcon Point has applied to install steel siding and change the stucco color on their building.
Design Review Considerations
According to the Commission's Procedures, Rules & Regulations, Section 6. 10, the Commission
shall consider the following items in reviewing the design of this project:
1. Conformance with the Zoning Code and other applicable regulations of the Town.
2. The suitability of the improvement, including type and quality of materials of which it is to be
constructed and the site upon which it is to be located.
3. The compatibility of the design to minimize site impacts to adjacent properties.
4. The compatibility of the proposed improvements with site topography.
5. The visual appearance of any proposed improvement as viewed from adjacent and neighboring
properties and public ways.
6. The objective that no improvement be so similar or dissimilar to others in the vicinity that values,
monetary or aesthetic will be impaired.
7. The general conformance of the proposed improvements with the adopted Goals, Policies and
Programs for the Town of Avon.
Staff Comments
The siding appears to be a horizontal lap siding that the applicants intend to mount vertically.
The Commission should evaluate whether the vertical mounting is an appropriate application
of the material.
2. The proposed colors have less contrast than the existing colors which will change the
appearance of the building. The Commission should evaluate whether the building would
have any impacts on neighboring properties or public ways as the building may appear
larger.

3. The siding and stucco colors are very similar to the adjacent Beaver Creek West Complex.
The Commission should evaluate whether this could be in conflict with Criterion 7, that the
buildings may appear too similar in color.
4. The Design Guidelines state that metal siding be allowed only with the specific approval of
the Commission. The metal siding has been approved for Beaver Creek West and Christie
Lodge.
